Colston Hall is a concert and live performance venue in the heart of Bristol that recently underwent extensive refurbishment, including the addition of a striking new foyer building on three floors with golden and glass panelling. Colston Hall wanted to celebrate its reopening with an event that showed off the new spaces in all their glory.
We created an outdoor show that made full use of the beautiful new building's surfaces, to celebrate the joining of the old and the new elements of the building.
Cirque Bijou directors Billy and Julian created the concept behind the show and oversaw the creation and production processes, working with a team that included admin support, aerial choreographers, aerialists, riggers, a lighting designer, video artists, a stylist, a beatbox choir, cellist, dhol drummers and 200 saxophonists.
After our 20 minute show, audiences were invited to explore the spaces of the Colston Hall through an evening of events in different spaces, ending with a new show, Drawer of Dreams, a collaboration between Cirque Bijou, Kathy Hinde and the Emerald Ensemble in the main theatre.
