Audience: Hyperlocal Families

Narrative: Exploration of home and family

The brief:

The Kitchen Circus Project is our collaboration with Knowle West Media Centre and Travelling Light Theatre Company. Together we paired up local artists with families, who then worked and played together to thoughtfully co-create and investigate ideas and hidden stories.

The heart of this project is forming important connections between people and their homes – navigating creative ways to be together. This involves tapping into the skills, ideas, and specialities of each company, artist and family, and sharing this knowledge amongst us. At the end we celebrate with a walk or a showing – which could be a series of performances staged in hyperlocal found spaces – in kitchens, garages, alleyways. It could be filmed, it could be drawn, it’s always discussed and shared.

I’m so excited to meet my family inside their castle…and explore together what home and nesting means to us all. What are the crown jewels within their home? I’m looking forward to listening and sharing with the groups.
