Client: The Production Office on behalf of Muse

Audience: 1.75 million live, 100 million TV audience

The brief:

Matt Bellamy, international superstar and Muse frontman wanted a 4m high robot for his stadium tour in 2013. We had previously worked on 2 international stadium tours with Muse and so he and his team came to us.

Challenges:

Designed and built in the UK to a very specific aesthetic brief, we had to create a visually stunning item, to be operated from inside, that could pack down into flight cases in 3 minutes flat and be resilient to touring the world.

Hugely impactful shows and tours which were viewed by millions – both live and on TV.  Charles even had his own following on Facebook! We created good connections within the industry and gained invaluable knowledge on the world of Rock and Roll touring and performance. We additionally created a flying ‘lightbulb’ with a light up filament, that an aerialist drops out from and performs suspended beneath, and provided actors and props for two other moments in the show.

I want one of these [robots] 20 feet tall, patrolling the stadium singing 'Unsustainable'... I was thinking LEDs and CO2 blasting out of the ears...
