A fond farewell from Geraldine Giddings
Working with Billy and Julian and many brilliant colleagues at Cirque Bijou has been the privilege of a lifetime. After 18 adventurous and action-packed years with the company, I am taking a break and some time with my family.
I’m immensely proud of everything we have created together. I’m also very grateful for the excitement, fun, tremendous team and billions of opportunities I’ve had during this time.
My wonderful longtime colleague Kate asked me what some of my best bits were – I could write a book (perhaps I will..!)
I’ve been involved in shows on beaches, over rivers and on islands. Shows with megastars, for royalty, with hundreds and hundreds of people taking part, or for audiences of only a handful. I have worked with artists and creatives who are astonishingly unique, talented and brave. Each time it is exciting and challenging. I learn new things, meet new people, and see new and wonderful sights. But it’s not only about the shows. For many years I have been largely office based, working with a dedicated and inventive team of people who are a second family to me. I have such respect for you all.
This little corner of the world that we call circus has introduced me to some of the most brilliant, open-minded, courageous, ingenious and determined people I know. I don’t know where I will go in the next 18 years of my life but wherever it is I hope that I will bring some of the values that I have learnt amongst them.
Thank you Julian and Billy, thank you to all my Cirque Bijou people xxx
