It’s an exciting day here at Cirque Bijou HQ – it’s a Friday, the sun is shining, and we are putting up a Big Top!
With the money granted to Diverse City from the Government’s Culture Recovery Fund in 2020, we plan to buy our very own Big Top which we can use as an accessible mobile touring space to house Extraordinary Bodies, our partnership project.
The tent pictured is one we are hiring for the next couple of weeks and putting up near Bristol. This is giving us a chance to explore the space, decide what we want our tent to look and feel like, and initiate ways in which we can bring back live performance safely following COVID-19.
We will have several events going on throughout the time the tent is up, including rehearsals of our new Extraordinary Bodies show ‘Human’, a cabaret evening in collaboration with Circomedia (invite only!), a visioning session with Theatre Bristol – ‘Dreaming in the Big Top’, and some fantastic training opportunities – including an Extraordinary Bodies led Audio Description workshop, which there are still a few spaces for.
It’s so great to be back onsite and working on something, thanks again to the Arts Council for making this possible.
