We are very excited to announce the latest project by Extraordinary Bodies – Take Up Space.
How does it feel to be confined or stuck in one place? How does that change when you are given room to breathe? Take up space!
About the Project
Take Up Space is a joyous short film celebrating the unique movement and physicality of a wonderful selection of artists from Extraordinary Bodies’ 12 year journey so far.
Inspired by the music video to Gabriels’ Love and Hate in a Different Time, we are inviting the artists to submit a self-recorded 1 minute long movement video, exploring the themes of restriction, freedom and transformation.
These will then be brought together by talented filmmaker Steven Lake. Steven has been working alongside Extraordinary Bodies since 2018 – including on Human – creating the beautiful film that accompanied the live performance. He has recently edit the trailer for another Extraordinary Bodies project – Earth, Wheels, Air.
Take Up Space also welcomes back Ted Barnes and John Kelly, who have previously worked with us on shows including: Weighting, What Am I Worth? and Human. Together they are composing a new song for the project.
Nandi Bhebhe is our movement director, creating a choreography brief for the cast to respond to with their own devised movement.
The film will have captions and BSL, with a creative audio description designed by Sophia Knox Miller.
